The student/educator will be able to:
  • provide a basic understanding of copyright and its influence on the research of information by students and educators.
  • show students how to conduct their research while working within the scope of copyright.
  • determine the proper utilization of the Fair Use doctrine.
  • distinguish between what is considered Fair Use and what violates Fair Use.
  • discuss the effectiveness of the Creative Commons model and decide if it is a useful adaptation of copyright law.
  • apply the knowledge of copyright to different situations commonly encountered in an educational setting.
